Re: NS2 Blog: Marine “Power Grid” design

Probably one of the best ideas to come out of ns2 imo.  It's one of those things that encourages sneaking behind enemy lines and finding weaknesses and will probably help keep games far more interesting.

I'm still not 100% clear on the CC thing. For all we know there could be a tech point in any room with a resource node.

Re: NS2 Blog: Marine “Power Grid” design

I truly wonder how much of the game will be edited out after the first few releases, like the big jump from 1.0 - 2.0, so much shit changed, then you get from 2.0 - 3.2, all the changes...

I'm pretty sure they'll take it slow, since it's going to be an official release they're selling.. it must be up to scratch, so us players wont really have much of an influence neutral it'll be up to the investors and other random people who are higher up :<

I like to judge shit before it comes out, this is one of the worst ideas that I've heard about neutral but i'll wait an see :>

Re: NS2 Blog: Marine “Power Grid” design

It could play well or it could play awfully. Bleh.

One feature id like to see is the commander actually being able to pick the rotation of their buildings.

Re: NS2 Blog: Marine “Power Grid” design

Not sure if i like the idea that a single skulk can cut your powersupply grid and knock out half your RT's... thats the way i understood it anyway

Re: NS2 Blog: Marine “Power Grid” design

RTs have a lot more hitpoints now, it will take either a concentrated effort for the aliens to take down a single rt, or a very inept marine team to let them smile

You'll notice that they're getting attacked because of flashing lights and power fading, a pretty good indicator. Marines seem to be more 'move forward, secure area, build a bit, move forward' sort of front-lines, where aliens have a much more asymmetric warfare style

Game play is going to be on an epic proportional scale it seems.

Re: NS2 Blog: Marine “Power Grid” design

Just incase anyone missed it, there's a great post from KFS about how the maps are coming together in relation to the Power Grid design;

http://www.unknownworlds.com/ns2/forums … try1705052

This will probably become a blog post shortly, but in the meantime it gives a good insight into whats going on.

It will hopefully be in our mmmmegalist today/tomorrow, if aegix doesnt suck balls

Re: NS2 Blog: Marine “Power Grid” design

I think the power grid idea helps keep the game fluid and constant scrims all over the map which is what NS to me is all about. Even currently, NS is quite fluid, however we all know when rines have a phaze gate and tf up near a hive, and pushing hard, all aliens try and counter push knock out the outpost - the Power Grid IMO will create multiple points of conflict and stop ww1 style slogging matches.

Going to reserve judgement til I play it.

They made NS rock, cant see why this idea wont contribute to another awesome game.

That said, Archie has a point tongue
