Playing to "have fun" in NS Includes:

any decent player enjoys playing competitively, what you've described (as MrC has said) for the most part is just griefing

but maybe i'm the only one who got bored of all of the things you described after having played the game for longer than a month and realising that it was all dumb

Re: NS2 Effects.

I cant see what you are trying to say. I simply noted that some people dont play to win, they simply play for fun. Whether the stuff I stated is griefing or not is irrelivent, they are NOT trying to win and simply just want to have a laugh.

So you're having fun at other peoples expense?

I don't see how that's not relevant. What you described as fun is what would entertain a 12 year old child. Anyone with half a brain would find that stuff boring, stupid and retarded.

Re: NS2 Effects.

Ah, that explains why you enjoy it so much, rep.

Ok. Im going to put it simple.
Are they trying to win : NO
Are they trying to have fun : YES

I challenge you to find someone who regularly played NS and hasnt done any of those things I listed at some point or another when playing.

Re: NS2 Effects.

Sure, people enjoyed some of the things you listed occasionally. But most of the time people were trying to win because that itself is far more fun than "shacking" or "CrAzY ReLoZ".

You know people can attempt to win a game, but by doing so in a way that makes it fun for them. These same people (although they want to win) generally don't actually care if they lose, because they're having fun still.

Not everyone is an elite win-at-all-costs uberplayer like you Rep.

Re: NS2 Effects.

if you're not trying to win you're letting the rest of the team down. i don't want to play a game and have some 'teammate' fucking around by himself or shacking etc

Everyone is assuming this is all just pubs. Haven't you ever played a pug, where you just mucked around, tried some fun strats, made some decent chamber shacks/mine fortress. Raven 11 point i think is valid, because it is an example of a situation, where you could be constantly losing, while still having fun.

Re: NS2 Effects.

Are you people still arguing this? There isn't even a discussion. Playing for 'fun' isn't playing the game, if that were the case, the aim of the game would be to build as many chambers in a vent as possible. But it is not. The aim of the game is to kill as many people on the other team as possible.

Winning is fun, losing isn't.

Agreed. When the game is lost, you've been spawn camped for the last few minutes and the marines are being slow pricks prolonging the game, making it out of spawn to get to that guys DC shack/contribute to it can produce some hilarious results at times. When the game is a tight struggle, and you get snapped a bunch of times and decide that theres no way you can win so fuck it im going to make a DC shack- thats not.

That's playing for fun? No wonder everyone plays to win.

But anyways, killing people on the other team is fun. All those rambos who run around ignoring the base being killed or the hive going up. They just wanna shoot stuff, they are playing for fun, and most definitely not to win. If the people playing to win let them down there's still stuff to kill, and once they can't kill anything they just quit.

Shacking in a vent is griefing, they might be playing for fun, but they're expletives so screw em.

I think doing it in a tournament was the best.

Except we fake relo'd outside double, and they got both their nodes in dbl, so if we played seriously, we would of won ;(
