tbh I can only think of a few other fps's made in the past 5 years and they are all pretty much about being as realistic as possible.

Nothing like pedantics to ruin a valid point.
I mentioned 2 games that have a sci-fi theme and a way to jump and increase speed.

I'm not even saying ns2 needs bhop. I'm just saying developers do still implement it intentionally when they feel the game will benefit.

your right though. the system helped to define the success and/or style of the alien play. if you could bhop, you could get around faster and thus be more helpful. otherwise you might as well put a weight on the w key ![]()

It has had that since ths site went up. In fact I pointed it out about a minute after it did. ![]()
We got over 1000 unique hits the day NS2.com went up.
just for the mega list in case it hasn't been picked up, cory dropped some info on turrets
The current plan for the turrets is:
--beefier, more powerful then NS
--cone of fire, so it matters where and how they are placed. They can be rotated by the commander when placing
--probably won't be able to be knocked down, as that causes all sorts of headaches
--possibly can run out of ammo so the commander needs to keep an eye on ammo count and reload them
--no turret factories, currently
--will be linked to the power grid
--I haven't talked to Charlie about upgrades for the turrets, so I don't know if any are planned or not
--no talk at the moment about alt fire, though it's an interesting idea
Please keep in mind that the above is all subsequent to change if deemed broken, annoying, useless, etc. based on adequate playtesting and what Charlie feels is going to work the best. So, please refrain from too many "OMG, they are ruining NS, it's gonna suck!" comments.

Hey, a couple of things for your megalist(great work btw):
Max updates us on netcode.
Dux wants to add secret readyroom rooms.
The pics of the new frontiersmen are in-game renders.
Dux updates the system specs slightly.
Dux also mentions that skulks will be able to bunny hop.
From the new interview(October 7, 2009):
"Commanders can affect the team through team resources but also have their own units and abilities that are all theirs."

This also means that we have less doors on the map (about 7-10). We’re currently planning on having the Commander do all the welding through his “builder bots” instead of players doing it from the ground, but that’s not definite ...
One trick with doors is we have to be sure that even if all doors are welded, players aren’t trapped anywhere and can still access all the resource points and hive/command-station rooms."
